Everything above was built by our own crews and equipment. When the ground turned up something the drawings did not show, the superintendent redirected them that morning.
What was hard
The site sits inside an active rail operation with a century of undocumented utilities under it, and the owner's board approves changes monthly rather than weekly.
What we did
Preconstruction is being spent locating everything before design finishes, so that the changes which would normally surface mid-construction — and wait a month each for board approval — surface now instead.
What it produced
In preconstruction. The utility locating scope was pulled forward specifically to protect the board's approval calendar.
