Everything above was built by our own crews and equipment. When the ground turned up something the drawings did not show, the superintendent redirected them that morning.
What was hard
The funding is appropriated annually, so the project has to reach defined milestones inside each fiscal year or lose its allocation. The geotechnical report has already flagged soils that will not carry the plaza as designed.
What we did
Preconstruction is being run against the fiscal calendar rather than the design calendar, with the ground improvement priced as a self-performed package we can start the week funding releases.
What it produced
In preconstruction. The ground improvement approach is being resolved before design completion specifically so it cannot slip a fiscal year.
